Puff-throated Babbler

The Puff-throated Babbler is a small bird found all over Tulu Nadu. They are usually found in small groups in scrub and moist forest. They are brown above and has white underparts with streak towards breast and belly. It has a white puff throat from where it gets its name. It has chestnut crown and dusky cheeks. They feed on small reptiles, frogs and insects. They are often seen turning around dry leaves to find its prey. They breed in Himalayas and forests of India. They build their nests on the ground with entrance on the side. The clutch varies from 2-5 eggs. 
Calls: Series of whistling notes. Sometimes it sounds like He'll beat you, Pret..y sweet...
Scientific Name: Pellorneum ruficeps. (Least Concern)
There are about 30 sub species.
