Green Imperial Pigeon

The Green-imperial pigeon is the largest forest pigeon. It is the state bird of Maharashtra and Tripura. They are resident birds and are found in forests of Western Ghats. Their back, wings and tail are metallic green in colour. Head and underparts are white. Sexes are similar. They build single stick nest in a tree and lay a single egg. They feed on fruits and berries of high trees.

Call: wook wook woor....ending in sounds like laughter.
Scientific Name: Ducula aenea (Least Concern)
