White-cheeked Barbet

The white-cheeked Barbets is a very common bird in Tulu Nadu. They are endemic to forests of Western Ghats. These Barbets has a distinctive supercilium and a broad white cheek stip below its eyes. These birds are mostly Frugivorous and occasionally feed on insects. They breed from December to July. They chisels out the trunk or a vertical branch of tree with a round entry hole. They lay one or two eggs. They play an important role in seed dispersal and pollination. 
Call: monotonous Kot roo.. kotroo. 
Scientific Name:  Psilopogon viridis (Least Concern)
